Monday, May 17. 2010DevConf Slides
The slides from my talk at DevConf in Moscow are now up and can be downloaded here.
Probably the biggest, or at the very minimum the 2nd biggest audience I've had a PHP Conference and the first time I had to give a PHP talk in Russian (with occasional slippage into English ;-p). Seemed to go pretty well. Thursday, March 11. 2010

My slides from the "APC & Memcache the High Performance Duo" talk are now online and can be found here.
In the slide I mentioned that memcache is available of *NIX only, which thanks to at least two attendees I know to be incorrect. It appears that there is a working (albeit old, circa 2006) memcache win32 version, which you can find here: http://jehiah.cz/projects/memcached-win32/ Once you install it, you'd need to compile memcache PHP extension on win32 and then you should be set. The slides from my talk at PHP Quebec on the upcoming PHP 5.3 release are up and can be found here.
I hope that all the people who attended the talk had found it useful and are now convinced 5.3 is the way to go Thursday, October 18. 2007Zend Conference Slides
I've finally got a bit of free time to official post the slides from my "State of PHP Security" talk from Zend Conference 2007. You can find the slides here. The session was a bit different from the usual talks I give on security, focusing on summarizing the efforts done so far this year aimed at improving PHP's own security and the things we are still working on improving.

I've been so busy last few weeks I didn't get a chance to blog about the acceptance of my talk for ZendCon. So, here it is now, better late then never. This year has been quite busy in terms of security when it comes to PHP, the language and many changes were done to make the language better when it comes to security.
The talk will try to summarize the many happenings in the PHP security world in to a quick one hour talk, so it should be quite an interesting challenge Thursday, May 17. 2007

I hope everyone who had been present at the talk had found something interesting that will help them improve the security of their code. Saturday, March 17. 2007Quebec Slides
Took a bit longer then I thought but the slides from my Security Tutorial and the Migrating to PHP 5.2.1 talk are filly up and can be found on the talks page (scroll to the bottom).
I hope the people who attended the talks found them interesting and I'd like to thank all the people who took the time to leave feedback, which relayed to me amazingly fast by the organizers. A big thanks should go to the organizers as well who have done an amazing job in organizing the conference and the after-conference activities. Having a 5 star hotel for the conference was a very nice perk as well Tuesday, February 13. 2007

The slides from my talk on PHP Security are now up and can be found in PDF form at the bottom on my talks page. The talk was unfortunately rather short and I had to rush through a number of things, so my apologies if things felt a bit rushed, but I think the key points were hit and as far as an overall overview it was pretty good. Those interested in hearing more about security can review my slides from previous conferences that go into a bit more detail as far as the various security issues.

The slides from the PHP & Performance tutorial I've given during the Zend's PHP Conference are now up, you can find them at the bottom of my talks page here. To all the people who have gotten up really early in the morning, thanks for attending and hopefully you've found something interesting for yourself during the talk.
Update: Rasmus has kindly pointed out that stripping while drastically reducing the size (basic binary is about 3x smaller), does not actually impact the startup speed in any measurable speed. A quick test with php-cgi from latest CVS appears to confirm this, so unless you want to save disk space at expense of debug symbols, do not strip! Thanks Rasmus. |
