PHP 5.2.1 RC1 Available for testing

The first release candidate of PHP 5.2.1 scheduled for late January is now available for download. The tarballs can be found here:

This release is primarily aimed at improving the stability of the language and finalization of features introduced in 5.2.0. There are over 70 different bug fixes, a great deal of performance improvements for Windows users, corrections to the memory manager and the improvement in the filter functionality. I'd like to ask everyone to try this release out and let us know if you come across any issues and/or regressions.

Dear Ilia,

Good to see the long awaited first release candidate, nice job!
I will compile it next week and use it on the production server.

Are the version numbers in phpinfo() correct?
The current versions are libxml2 2.6.27, libxslt 1.1.19, IMAP 2006d and OpenLDAP 2.3.30.

None of those libraries are bundled, so the versions are the versions of the libs that PHP is linked against.

And the static problem? I think the PHP developers really don't use the OO for serious problemns... Is not possible they don't care about it!

Full Ack, I agree to Peter Parker.

This stupid static binding problem is most annoying and prevents any useful oop programming. You should fire this guy who stated in the bug list, that this is, how things *should* work - he has no clue.
